Years ago I was inspired by the “deep ecology” educational philosophy of Joanna Macy and her “Council of All Beings” in which participants transformed, through costume, into creatures of the natural world, and were encouraged to “be a voice” for those creatures and their perspective in the ecological conversation.
The Parade of All Beings is my extension of that inspiration.
Since 2007 I have been creating conversations with people about their favorite creatures, the importance of diversity and natural wonderf, making costumes and poetry with them, and celebrating OUR ecological community together!
Hear ye, hear ye:
Come one! Come all!
To Vox Lumina’s Parade of All Beings
this Fall!
As a way to CELEBRATE our AMAZING Earth,
OUR ECOLOGICAL COMMUNITY,
and ALL the WILD BEINGS that call it home,
YOU ARE HEREBY INVITED TO ATTEND
Vox Lumina’s Parade of All Beings!
We will gather and PARADE through the fairgrounds
donning hand-made, recycled materials Creature Costumes and Puppets representing the various life forms
from our very special “corner” of the Earth.
In this way we can all see, learn about, and celebrate together
the variety and diversity of Our Ecological Community!
Some might come as Cloud, Caterpillar, or Bald Eagle,
the Coyote, Black Bear, or Squirrel,
even Bumble Bee, Moon, or River-
but hopefully everyone will come out and represent a “being”
in Vox Lumina’s Parade of All Beings.
All ages encouraged, grown ups and children alike!
